My Skills and Qualifications

I was recently asked what my skills and qualifications are to be a county commissioner here in Swain County. This was my response.

I have a B.A. in Finance and years of professional experience in banking. That training means I can read a budget, spot waste, and help stretch taxpayer dollars so they deliver the biggest local impact.

I’m a licensed Enrolled Agent and have represented people through tax audits, I know how to work with complicated rules, grants, and contracts and make sure the county’s finances are handled with the attention to detail they deserve.

My years in banking and tax work have also been years of service: solving problems, protecting confidential information, and getting real results for everyday folks. I know how to listen and follow through.

I’ve worked on grassroots field outreach that reached tens of thousands across Western NC, so I understand how to recruit volunteers, listen to residents, and turn conversations into action.

I’ve served on finance committees and managed operational details. I know how to work with colleagues, prioritize spending, and keep government transparent and accountable.

Most of all, I live here and I love this community. I want Bryson City and all of Swain County to be a safe, thriving place to work and raise a family. That’s exactly why I’m running: to bring practical, accountable leadership to the county commission so we get more done for our neighbors.

If you have questions or want to talk about an issue in your neighborhood, leave a comment or text me (my number is 828-331-1895). I read them and I’ll respond. If you agree with this approach, please share this post so more neighbors see it. Thank you for taking the time to ask, I want to earn your trust with results, not slogans.
